Certification

On 22 December 2003 the joint-stock company Bordiga Francesco Spa was awarded certification according to:

1) the Chain of Custody System (FSC)

2) the Corporate Organization Quality System in compliance with UNI EN ISO-9001:2000
standards.

Today our company is capable of offering FSC Certified material, indicating lumber originating from forests correctly managed according to severe environmental, social and economic standards.
The forest of origini is checked and assessed independently according to the forest management principles and criteria established and approved by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) that can be summarised as follows:

1) Compliance with the national laws in force as well as with international agreements
2) Safeguarding of the title and rights of use of land and of forest resources
3) Safeguarding of the indigenous populations that depend on the forest
4) Safeguarding of the rights of the workers and of local communities, focusing on labour safety and on their economic and social well-being.
5) Promotion of many products, services and benefits deriving from the forest
6) Safeguarding of the landscape and of the forest’s integrity
7) Forest monitoring and assessment
8) Preservation of the forests of major ecologic and naturalistic worth
9) Management of forest plantations in accordance with the foregoing principles.

The FSC is an international non-profit organization that includes among its members environmentalist and social groups, wood first processing, transformation and trade industries that work together to improve the management of forests throughout the world.
